Doing something crafty is one of my favorite ways to relieve stress. I also love to do craft projects with the boys. Since I am more of a fly by the seat of my pants type of person I don’t always have all of the supplies I need on hand for a specific project. My trips to the craft stores have really lessened since becoming a mom. I don’t know about you, but dragging a screaming child through a store with lots or breakable items isn’t what I call fun. That is why I love Oriental Trading so much! I can shop in my pajamas after the boys have gone to bed. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found new project ideas while looking around on their website. I’ve even found different craft kits that have everything ready and individually packaged with instructions. Over the years I’ve realized just how handy that is. I’ve placed many orders over the years and have always had fast and friendly service! Only one time have I had an issue with an order and it was fixed the day I called without any hassles. They have a great selection of products for crafts, parties, weddings, holidays and classrooms.
We were sent a box packed full of craft supplies to entertain the boys. They loved seeing the mom and dad foam shapes, the shirt and tie foam frame kit and the Mom Clothespin Note Holder Craft Kit. I’m not sure why, but my boys love doing crafts with foam shapes. As soon as I pulled out the blank cards and envelopes they were off on a mission. They made cards for grandma and grandpa since they were going to spend the night at their house. Brody even used the foam shapes to seal the cards and got made when they didn’t exactly fit in the envelopes. Sadly I lost the pictures of cards those cards, but they were excited to make more! Just this week they sat down and made Father’s Day cards once again. Their only problem? The face they had used most of the race car and tool box foam shapes on previous cards! The My Dad Rocks Pom-Pom Critters Craft Kit were another one that they couldn’t wait to tear into. Since Zander and Quentin work faster than Brody, it was very helpful that each craft was already prepackaged with the necessary items and instructions. It was cute to see them try to hard to follow the directions and when it didn’t turn out just right, decide that if they all looked the same it would be boring.
The boys used the blank cards that were included in the box along with the foam shapes to make cards for Father’s Day. The cards were a hit! Sadly only one of my son’s would let me take a picture of one of the cards he made. They were worried that I’d let daddy or grandpa see the cards before Father’s Day. Since then they’ve made a card weekly for both grandparents just for fun. The boys wanted to turn the clothespins mentioned above into gifts for their teachers this year. Take one apart, paint with a few coats of acrylic paint and then put it back together after its dry and you’re good. Each boy had a different theme so we used different colors and added stickers and they turned out great. The boys have already asked to make more for their new teachers this year!
